TRIANGLE history

Find out how three people's vision became the most international triathlon event organising agency with dependencies in 4 countries on two continents within less than 10 years.

History

The history of Triangle is closely connected to three people's history: Georg Hochegger, Helge Lorenz and Stefan Petschnig. All of them having an active triathlete's background, they had the vision of staging an official Ironman in Austria.

In 1998, they started off with 124 competitors in the Ironman-distance race Trimania. Since 1999 this race has been an official qualifier for the Ironman World Championships Hawaii and has grown to one of the biggest races in the world. Triangle was offered the option to host an Ironman in France, and later in South Africa and Monaco, too.

Today, Triangle is the most international triathlon organising agency world wide with six WTC (World Triathlon Corporation) sanctioned races in four countries on two continents. Being aware of the fact that there are distances in triathlon that athletes like to accomplish, Triangle sets up Olympic distance and short distance races as well as kids' races, too.

In total Triangle handles about 20.000 athletes every year. Due to the fact that Triangle became one main information point for athletes Triangle developed Sports shops in Austria, Monaco and South Africa as well as coaching companies giving individual advice to their target athletes.
